Annabel McGannon (b. 2003) is from Atlanta, Georgia. Her deep interest in photographic history and chemistry has led her to work primarily in the darkroom, especially with 4x5” negatives, focusing on silver gelatin and palladium printing. She is also focused on paper-making and bookbinding, creating intentional vessels for her photographs. Her artistic skills and fascinations have led her to pursue a career in photograph conservation, where she can contribute to the care of the medium she is so transfixed by. She is currently demystifying photography by studying chemistry as she prepares for graduate programs in conservation. She has always been someone who wonders how artworks are made when viewing them, and conservation truly indulges this curiosity. Her artistic background informs and guides her as she works meticulously to perfect her prints and delves into the rich history of photography.
